About the speaker:

After receiving his Ph.D. in plant physiology from the Holbrook Lab at Harvard University in 2011, Dr. Juan Pablo Giraldo worked as NSF postdoctoral fellow on Plant Nanobiotechnology in the Strano Research Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The Giraldo Lab at the University of California, Riverside uses nanotechnology to study and engineer plant abiotic stress. Nanomaterials have unique optical, electronic, and chemical properties that have been widely exploited in biomedical research, but their impact on plant function remains largely unexplored. We aim to develop nanoparticle based research tools to understand and manipulate plant physiological mechanisms at levels of organization ranging from organelles to tissues and whole plants.
